 An On-line Journal . . . A place where not only parents, but siblings, aunts, uncles, teachers, grandparents, can post on-line journals, add photos and write messages to update friends and family who care. This is a great tool to keep your friends and family posted on your child's update, when you're away from home. All you need to do is give your website to friends and family, and they will be able to check your updates at any time.

 Check with your hospital. Many hospital have transplant fund available to a child having transplant. Check with your social worker

 If you are having an organ donation, check with your insurance to see if they will provide a travel fund which covers lodging/boarding and flights for you and a family member

 Based on which State you live, there are organizations that provide help with your mortgage while your child is in the hospital with a major illness. For ex. if you live in MN, click here

 If your child is in-patient in a hospital for over 3 weeks, he or she qualifies for hospital teaching where a teacher will come to your hospital room to teach you. Check with your social worker or nurse

 If your hospital is next to a University, you can call the volunteer center at the hospital or at the University and ask if students are able to run some errands for you or tutor your child or teach an instrument like a guitar or art while your child is in the hospital

 Some hospitals have a program for cancer patients where volunteers will help by driving you to a store or a mall or pharmacy or event sight seeing. Check with your social worker

 Request a Smile Pack (care package) for your child while in hospital by visiting www.kidswhocareclub.org  Kids Who Care will mail a personalized package to your child to help them pass their time while in hospital. Items can include books, games, DVD, arts & crafts, ITUNES gift cards and more.

 State Resource Sheets will help you connect with the disability agencies and organizations in your state

 Set up online meal arrangements for friends and community members to bring you dinners will you are taking care of your loved one. This is a huge help when you just return back home from the hospital.
