Surgery Date : september 28, 2011

Diagnosis: complete tracheal rings

Child's Age and Interest: 5 monthes elmo and the little mermaid

Share your story: MY baby Ariel was born June 23, 2011 and aspirated at birth so about 16 hrs later she was sent to sanford fargo, there she was diagnosed with laryngo malacia and she got sent home after 2 wks. We had her home for about 6 wks and she wouldnt eat and she was really fussy so I called sandford phone nursing and they could hear her breathting over the phone and told me that was a 911 call so then I took her into the local hospital and the on-call doctor told me I was just being an anxious mother and I need to make an appointment with her pediatrician in the morning. She was clearly retracting and in respiratory distress so I decided to take it apon myself to bring her back to Fargo and by the time I got there and they were checking her sats she was starting to go apnic so they had to intubate her. Then theyh gave her maintance fluids and that diluted her blood so she had blood transfusion. They did an x-ray on her chest and found she had pneumonia. Once all that!

got cleared up the doctors did some further testing and found stenosis in her trachea and sent her to U of M Amplatz Childrens Hospital for the ENT specialists and they did all new testing and found the stenosis was complete tracheal rings and she had surgery the next week. Thank you for listening to my story God Bless!! we are still not out nof the hospiutal but she is doing good

She was a sick baby. I finally got her sent to the ER, they said something is not right and sent her to children's, where they are narrowing down what is her illiness, its necrotic pneumonia, a bad comlicated pneumonia, they put her under to drain the pus and put a drain tube in her to drain out the bad stuff, she is on strong antibiotics, but it will be a long while before she is back to normal. I hope to have her home within the week.
