2008 :
On a sad note: We tragically lost a very dear friend with
cerebral palsy. Kelsey had gone thru over 30 surgeries in her 14
years of life. She was a big inspiration, a beautiful, kind,
caring and loving child. She will be truly missed. God bless her
soul and her amazing family who fought till the last second for
her life.
We would like thank Marsha M from Placentia, Ca for making a
quilt. We appreciate your group's caring and kindness. We hope
that you will continue making more quilts for us.
Thank you to High School Youth Action Team, Irvine for benefiting
KWCF for their Battle of the Bands event. It was a big success and
a lot of fun. We appreciate your donation and support. We would
also like to thank Robert and UCI Alpha Phi Omega volunteers -
Bryan and Lea for helping us out that day.
Anaheim Arsenal minor league basketball team, Thank you so much
for donating 40 tickets to the game at the Anaheim Convention
Center. These tickets were distributed to our volunteers and their
families and also to the families staying at the Ronald McDonald
House in Orange, CA. Everyone had lots of fun and really enjoyed

movie/desert night was held. We gave out card
quilts, stuffed toys and rolling backpacks to the
families staying there. Rolling backpacks and
stuffed animals were donated by ORIGIN8 INC to us.
June
2007 :
Due to computer problems we were
unable to post updates in May. Here are all the
updates: Yati, Thank you so much for creating a
link on our website for "My Journal". Now parents
will be able to write their journals and share their
stories with their friends and family. Thank you
to Beth for having the women of the Irvine Stake of
the Church of Jesus Christ- St. Latter Day Saints
and Mrs.Oftebros's Westwood Elementary class for
making over 200 cards! Thank you to all the women at
the church who helped put 10 quilts together.
Fantastic job! The quilts will be sent to Ronald
McDonald House and to Osmond Hospital in London,
England. Thank you to Sapna P. for having Girl
Scout Troop at Westwood Elementary make cards and
put together 2 card quilts. Good job Sapna! Cards
will be given to children at the Ronald McDonald
House. Thank you to those of you who attended
the KWCF fundraiser: Are You Smarter Than A 5Th
Grader. The TV show was aired in June at 8pm on Fox
11. So don't forget to check it out!
Kunali
Shah received Kids Who Care's Caring Heart Award for
all her hard work and commitment to bring a Smile to
child in the hospital.
On Sunday, April 22,
2007 on National Global Youth Service Day, Kids Who
Care Foundation dedicated the service day to the
Virginia Tech tragedy for the students who lost
their lives and got injured. The Kids Who Care
Foundation created an 80 piece Condolence cloth
quilt for the Virginia Tech students with the help
of students from the community. We also made 22 "Get
Well" Card Quilts: one for each injured student.
These 525+ cards were made by over 250 students,
some as young as 4 years old, as well as parents.
Community groups also joined in creating the Card
Quilts, such as Girl Scout Troop 1431, Jain Center
Youth Council, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church ,
Creeker's Club, Kids Who Care Orange Coast College,
Kids Who Care Laguna Hills High School Club, UCI
Circle K club, Boys & Girls Club and High School
Youth Action team, and Kids Who Care Volunteers.
Mrs. M from Tiny Tots and Ebony helped with drafting
messages, Boys and Girls Club hosting the event,
Curt Christianssen took pictures, UCI mailed all the
quilts, Mayor Krom invited us to UCI's Memorial for
Viginia Tech students to share the quilts made by
all of you, Mr Hammeras, Brywood Elementary donated
butcher paper, Mrs. Amoroso at Brywood Elementary
had a mini memorial with all the quilts, Melissa at
the City of Irvine for helping with all laminations,
Irvine World News for printing the story along with
many more caring individuals and groups. All the
pictures will be uploaded on the website once we
find a volunteer.

and all the card quilts were put together for us by
Mission Hospital’s Spirit of Giving staff. Over
1,500 cards were made by the students in just 3
days! For this event, Risha was the spokes person
for Mission Hospital’s Spirit of Giving and spoke to
over 1000 kids at different schools to inspire other
children. We received a big basket of supplies for
the foundation: . Bread for the Journey, Irvine
chapter recognized Risha & the Kids Who Care
Foundation for extending our services to another
country. • We would like to thank Boys &
Girls Club of Irvine, Bread for the Journey, Sarita
Haberlein and all our donors & volunteers for
their contribution to KWCF including the fantastic
KWCF board members. • Laguna Hills High club
started by Kunali S. and Orange Coast College Club

Card Quilt sent to Megan Hierons,
3 years old from England. Megan's Diagnosis. NED
from neuroblastoma, but been left paralysed and is
having surgery to have her spine pinned. The card
quilt sent to Great Ormond Street hospital,
London.

A HUMANGOUS THANK YOU to Soneji
from Sarathi Yoga Foundation for developing a “Yoga
Relaxation for Children” CD for KWCF. We hope that
this CD will help the children in the hospital relax
with some simple yoga techniques and help bring some
inner peace within them. We are hopeful that this CD
along with the card quilt will help bring joy to the
child that needs it the most!

duplicating our Yoga CDs and to Derek @ J J Printing
for making all our labels. Anita, thank you for
creating a beautiful CD label for us. We truly

Nivedita B, an
ENORMOUS Thank you for your continuing support with
our computer programming needs for our website. You
have been an immense help to our foundation in
restoring all our lost information and helping us

KWCF!
Mrs. Wesson at Vista Verde Elementary
School was awarded "Appreciation" award from KWCF
for all her support to KWCF. Risha was once again
invited to speak to all first graders at her school
and have them make cards. Thank You to all the first
grade teachers and their students for making over
100 cards for us.
Thank you to H.U.G.S for
making such beautiful card quilts and especially
choosing KWCF as their first community service
project. We are truly honored. Keep up the great
work!
A card quilt sent to Hamburg, Germany
to Aneri who is 7yrs old, “…is suffering from A-L-L
since she was 5 yrs. old. She had undergone two
Chemo therapy cycles in India for last two years
without any success. She moved to Hamburg Germany
with her parents this February for BMT scheduled for
March 1st. Upon arrival in Hamburg, doctors
discovered that she has second relapse, and will
have to wait for remission before BMT is even
considered. She is currently undergoing third Chemo
cycle in Hamburg. Her chances of successful
remission are 30% or less according to her medical
team in Hamburg”. We hope that the card quilt cheers
Aneri up and we will pray for her speedy recovery!
Aneri, the yoga CD is on its way for you! Keep
smiling and you will be flying soon!

words, though she may be
young, her little body
is aging rapidly and she
suffers (painfully) what

time to feel in old age.

"Hero Kid of the Year" by
Mission Hospital, Spirit of Giving. Over 1000 students in Orange County will be making cards for the
Kids Who Care Foundation, and all the card quilts will be put together for us by Mission Hospital Spirit of Giving staff. Over 1,500 cards will be made by the students in just 3 days! For this event, Risha will be speaking at the following schools to inspire other kids:

Bread for the Journey, Irvine chapter has recognized
Kids Who Care Foundation for extending our services to another
Country.

Mr. Soneji, from
Sarathi Yoga Foundation has created a special "pain management through Yoga"
CD for Kids Who Care Foundation. KWCF will make copies of this special
CD and will be distribute to the kids in the hospitals
together with the card quilts to help them with their pain.

“Giving Kid Hero" by
Spirit of Giving, Mission Hospital, Mission Viejo. She will be giving presentations at
5 Saddleback schools in January and deliver the cards to the
Mission Hospital on to bring joy with all your help!

We will be sending cards on regular basis to RMH-LA and Orange, CHLA and trying to work out the same with
Mission and CHOC Hospitals.

During the Holiday season, 2 barrels of toys & books for kids affected by Hurricane Katrina were collected
by kids from Westwood Basics Plus Elementary School. Additionally, two more barrels were collected
for Tsunami victims by kids from The Mandir, an
Indian Temple in Irvine.

KWCF's Annual Community Talent Show fund-raiser was a big success! Our talent ranged from pre-school children to UCI students, participating in the event to show off their talents to raise funds.

2005 The Holiday Card
Making Party was a big success! We made over 150
cards in 3 hours, and with the help of Mrs. Wesson
from Vista Verde, we got an additional 160 cards!
Thank you 1st graders for helping us make a
difference! 14 card quilts were put together, with
each quilt consisting of 20 cards. Thanks a whole
bunch to UCI's Sigma Chi Fraternity, Priyal, Risha,
Rhea, Roshani, Jason, William, Rebecca, Nilay,
Aisha, Shivani, Rini, Riya, Chris, Sarah, Chelsea,
Lanlang, Andrew, Christopher, Branden, Jeffrey,
Phillip, Russell, John, Jonathan, Asa, Robert,
Richard, Anthony, Hannie, Michael and Suzanne for
all your help.
Also, a big thank you to the Boys & Girls Club of
Irvine for donating their facility. We appreciate
your on-going support. Card quilts were distributed
to Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles, The Los
Angeles Ronald McDonald House kids, and Make A Wish
Foundation children. We look forward to seeing all
of you in February's party.

November
2005 We have got 2 barrels placed at the "Mandir"
in Irvine for the Tsunami kids. Please drop off toys/books to help
bring a smile to the Tsunami kids during this Holiday Season. We
